At KoBold Metals, we are on a mission to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy by utilizing artificial intelligence to discover the essential minerals our world needs. We manage a global portfolio of over 50 exploration properties, and our team of industry experts has already contributed to nearly 20 major discoveries. By combining advanced geoscience with proprietary exploration technology, we aim to make mineral exploration faster, more efficient, and more successful. We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our remote team and help us build the systems that make our vast amounts of exploration data accessible and actionable.
What you'll be doing
- You will collect, standardize, and clean diverse sets of mineral exploration data, ranging from unstructured text and images to complex tabular information.
- You will design and maintain scalable, high-performance systems and pipelines that support our field operations and data processing needs.
- You will collaborate closely with our geoscientists and data scientists to build internal tools, dashboards, and automated workflows that improve our overall data quality and operational velocity.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in building data-intensive products and a passion for solving complex scalability challenges. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in data or software engineering.
- Expertise in Python, specifically with data processing libraries like Pandas and distributed computing frameworks like Dask.
- A deep understanding of large-scale system design and performance optimization for data storage.
- The initiative to identify inefficiencies and the technical creativity to automate them.
- A collaborative mindset, as you will be working across teams with geoscientists, software engineers, and operations personnel.
- Fluency in English to communicate effectively within our global team.
What you'll get
We believe in providing the flexibility you need to do your best work, no matter where you are located.
- The freedom of remote work.
- The opportunity to work on high-impact projects that directly contribute to the global transition toward sustainable energy.
- A collaborative environment where you can mentor others and promote engineering best practices.
