At Edge & Node we are building the indexing and query layer that powers open data across web3. Our work centers on The Graph, the decentralized protocol that lets developers publish and query blockchain data through open APIs called subgraphs. Tens of thousands of these subgraphs already serve applications such as Uniswap, Synthetix, and Decentraland, and our team maintains the core Rust codebase that makes this possible.
The role
We are hiring a Senior Data Engineer to join the Graph Node team on a full-time, remote basis. In this position you will extend the data-processing and querying capabilities of graph-node, an open-source Rust project that serves as the backbone of The Graph Network.
Core responsibilities
- Improve graph-node’s performance as a data engine by designing, implementing, and quantitatively validating changes to its indexing and query systems.
- Work within a large, established Rust codebase while preserving backward compatibility and documenting key behaviors for the network’s independent operators.
- Review colleagues’ pull requests, set up performance tests, and monitor how new features behave once deployed across the network.
Skills and experience
You have contributed more than ten thousand lines of production code and think about data naturally in SQL terms. You understand relational algebra, fundamental database structures such as B-Trees and LSM Trees, and common compression formats. You are comfortable working with existing systems, tracing and debugging complex software, and balancing theoretical rigor with the need to ship usable features quickly. Experience with GraphQL, federated queries, and Rust is highly valued, as is an interest in how small design decisions scale in large data systems. English fluency is required.
Compensation and benefits
Total compensation for roles at Edge & Node typically ranges from $100,000 to $500,000 annually. In addition to this market-based pay, we offer remote work, flexible hours, and equity compensation. Our culture emphasizes meritocracy, continuous learning, and an ego-free environment.
How to apply
If this description matches your background and interests, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your application so we can learn more about how you could contribute to The Graph’s mission.
