System1 is a global leader in customer acquisition, and we are looking for a talented Data Engineer II to join our team. We manage massive scale, processing hundreds of billions of records daily to support our business intelligence, machine learning, and traffic optimization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust data pipelines for ingestion and delivery across various sources and destinations.
- Create technical specifications and conduct proof of concept evaluations for new frameworks, APIs, and technologies.
- Modernize our existing codebase and maintain infrastructure to improve cost efficiency and performance.
- Perform SQL data investigations, quality analysis, and query optimizations.
- Enhance our monitoring and alerting coverage to ensure system reliability.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and manage dependencies effectively.
- Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to high-quality software development standards.
Must-haves
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, including experience with query optimization.
- Programming expertise in Python, Scala, or Java.
- Experience working with databases such as Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or Google BigQuery.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, database design, and distributed computing fundamentals.
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an agile, transparent environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with cloud ecosystems like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with containerization strategies using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency with orchestration platforms such as Airflow.
- Working knowledge of dbt and Jinja macros.
- Previous experience collaborating with data science or business intelligence teams.

The base salary range for this position is $115,000 to $135,000, plus bonus and equity opportunities.
