Data Analyst at Octane

Octane is transforming how enthusiasts buy powersports vehicles, RVs, and outdoor power equipment by pairing advanced technology with smart financing solutions. We are a remote-first company with more than 550 employees, 30-plus OEM partners, and 4,000 dealer relationships, and we are looking for a junior data analyst to help our finance team turn data into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

• Partner with finance stakeholders to build and refine complex SQL queries and reports that track loan applications, originations, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with the data engineering team to spot bottlenecks in existing pipelines and create automated solutions for data movement.
• Master Octane’s financial data models so stakeholders can quickly retrieve the information they need.
• Help roll out data-catalog tools such as Atlan and visualization platforms such as Tableau.
• Maintain clear data dictionaries that explain table definitions and business context for non-technical users.
• Promote a fast-moving, test-and-learn culture by turning raw numbers into compelling data stories.

Must-haves

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, econometrics, or engineering, or equivalent bootcamp training.
• One to two years of data-analysis experience at a finance or technology company, or a related master’s degree.
• Hands-on experience writing SQL queries against large datasets.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS Redshift or Athena.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel at a basic-to-intermediate level.
• Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

• Comfort working across multiple database systems and SQL dialects.
• Previous exposure to additional AWS data services.
• Introductory experience with Python or Tableau.
• Ability to spot data anomalies and understand when values fall outside expected business patterns.
• Proven success working independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

Base salary range: $64,000–$80,000.
