About the Role
We are currently looking for a Senior Data Analyst to join us as a Contractor. In this role, you will report directly to our Director of Product and Insights. You will be responsible for helping newsrooms interpret their audience metrics to improve loyalty, donation rates, and overall growth. This is a project-based position requiring approximately 10 to 15 hours of work per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract and refine site traffic data from Google Analytics and Parse.ly to uncover meaningful trends across various audience segments and referral sources.
- Develop comprehensive traffic and loyalty reports that provide newsroom leadership with clear recommendations on where to invest time and resources to meet organizational goals.
- Translate complex datasets into accessible deliverables, such as slide decks and reports, tailored for non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in Google Analytics, Parse.ly, and advanced data manipulation using Excel or Google Sheets.
- A deep understanding of how newsrooms categorize content and traffic data to drive editorial strategy.
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting data-driven insights to editors and senior leadership.
- A high level of professional integrity and a willingness to sign a nondisclosure agreement.
- Bonus skills: While not required, experience with Python, SQL, data migrations, and QA processes is highly valued.

Compensation and Benefits
