At Bertram Capital, we believe that the best way to drive growth is by blending the discipline of private equity with the innovative spirit of venture capital. Since we began in 2006, we have raised over $3.5 billion to help lower middle market companies reach their full potential. We do not just focus on financial engineering. Instead, we prioritize technology enablement, big data, and digital transformation to build lasting value. We are looking for a passionate Cybersecurity Specialist to join Bertram Labs, our dedicated technology partner, and help us protect the digital foundations of our portfolio companies.
The opportunity
As a Cybersecurity Specialist, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our data and infrastructure. You will work closely with our Cybersecurity Operations Analyst to refine our security policies and implement robust defensive strategies. This is a perfect fit for someone who is eager to apply their technical skills to real-world challenges, as you will collaborate directly with our engineers, IT staff, and business leaders to ensure our systems remain secure and resilient.
A day in the life
- You will lead incident response efforts, which includes evaluating potential threats, mitigating risks, and reporting on containment actions.
- You will manage the implementation of various vendor security tools to keep our defenses sharp and up to date.
- You will act as a key point of contact for security-related helpdesk tickets, providing effective solutions and support to our team members.
Who you are
We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in information security and a knack for problem-solving. You should be comfortable communicating complex security needs to business leaders and possess the following qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in information security or a technical helpdesk environment.
- A solid understanding of incident response, application testing, and gap analysis.
- Proficiency in English, with the ability to clearly document and explain security protocols.
- A preference for candidates with a degree in computer science or relevant security certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CySA+.
- Familiarity with public cloud providers such as AWS or Azure is a significant plus.
- You must be based in California or Colorado to support this fully remote position.
Why you'll love it here
We value your hard work and want to ensure you are well taken care of. The total annual compensation for this role ranges from $110,000 to $130,000, with an additional annual bonus available after one year of tenure. Beyond the salary, we provide a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided at no cost to you.
- A generous 401k matching program.
- The flexibility of a fully remote work environment.
- A "take what you need" PTO policy to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.
