At Renegade, we are dedicated to creating an unstoppable network for the anonymous exchange of value. Our primary mission is to build a permissionless, crypto-native dark pool that addresses critical issues in current decentralized exchange designs, such as front-running, toxicity, and fragmented liquidity. By leveraging advanced zero-knowledge and multi-party cryptography, we ensure complete trade privacy throughout the entire lifecycle of a transaction. Our goal is to bring the efficiency and privacy of traditional finance dark pools into the decentralized ecosystem, and we are backed by leading investors like Dragonfly Capital, Naval Ravikant, and Balaji Srinivasan.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Cryptography Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is an on-site role based in downtown San Francisco, where we operate in-person six days a week. You will be at the heart of our technical development, working directly on our ZKP and MPC proving stacks to help us build a secure and private future for decentralized trading.
Core responsibilities
- Develop and implement core cryptographic primitives, such as SPDZ and Bulletproofs, while optimizing them for high-performance, low-latency execution.
- Collaborate on the maintenance and security of our proving stacks to ensure the system remains both flexible and highly expressive.
- Conduct internal audits to maintain consistent state across our protocol and ensure the highest standards of cryptographic integrity.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong foundation in pure math, security research, or cryptography. We value candidates who have experience with or a strong aptitude for learning zero-knowledge proofs and multi-party computation. Your technical toolkit should include the following:
- Proficiency in Rust for protocol-layer development and TypeScript for interfaces and CLI tools.
- Experience working with zero-knowledge cryptography libraries like Arkworks, Circom, and Dalek.
- Practical experience with StarkNet and the Cairo language.
- A proven ability to write latency-optimized code for real-world zero-knowledge proof implementations.
Compensation and benefits
We are a seed-stage startup offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cryptographic problems alongside a world-class team. We provide a collaborative, high-intensity environment in our San Francisco office where you will have a direct impact on the future of decentralized finance.
How to apply
If you are passionate about cryptography and want to help us build the next generation of anonymous trading infrastructure, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to us with your background and interest in Renegade so we can start a conversation about how you can contribute to our mission.
