At Renegade, we are on a mission to build an unstoppable network for the anonymous exchange of value. Our team is creating a crypto-native dark pool that addresses the critical issues found in current decentralized exchanges, such as front-running, toxicity discrimination, and fragmented liquidity. By leveraging advanced zero-knowledge and multi-party cryptography, we ensure complete trade privacy throughout the entire lifecycle of a transaction. This means that details regarding orders, balances, and trade history remain entirely confidential, providing significant anonymity and best execution for large-scale traders. We are a seed-stage startup backed by prominent investors like Naval Ravikant, Dragonfly Capital, and Balaji Srinivasan, and we operate in-person from our office in downtown San Francisco.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Cryptography Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. In this role, you will be a vital part of our efforts to refine our zero-knowledge proof and multi-party computation stacks. You will help us bridge the gap between complex theoretical cryptography and practical, low-latency execution. Your work will directly influence the security and efficiency of our protocol, ensuring that we maintain a robust and flexible system as we continue to scale.
A day in the life
- You will design and implement core cryptographic primitives, such as SPDZ and Bulletproofs, while optimizing them for high-performance, low-latency environments.
- You will conduct internal audits to ensure our system maintains a consistent state while remaining expressive and adaptable.
- You will collaborate with our engineering team to integrate our protocol with StarkNet for settlement and utilize Rust for the core protocol layer.
Who you are
You are a skilled engineer with a deep interest in the intersection of math and decentralized finance. You communicate effectively in English and possess the following qualifications:
- A strong background in pure mathematics, cryptography, or security research.
- Experience working with or a rapid ability to learn zero-knowledge proofs and multi-party computation.
- Proficiency in working with cryptography libraries like Arkworks, Circom, and Dalek.
- Practical experience with StarkNet and the Cairo language.
- A proven ability to write latency-optimized code while demonstrating a deep understanding of core cryptographic principles.
Why you'll love it here
Joining Renegade means working at the forefront of privacy-preserving technology in the crypto space. You will be part of a highly focused team that values deep technical work and innovation. We operate in an intense, collaborative environment in downtown San Francisco, working together in person six days a week to build the future of financial market structure. We are excited to meet engineers who are passionate about solving complex problems and building systems that truly matter.
