At Renegade, we are on a mission to build an unstoppable network for the anonymous exchange of value. Our team is creating a crypto-native dark pool that addresses the critical flaws found in modern decentralized exchanges, such as front-running, copy trading, and liquidity fragmentation. By leveraging advanced zero-knowledge and multi-party computation, we ensure complete trade privacy throughout the entire lifecycle of a transaction. This means that sensitive information regarding balances, trade history, and order details remains entirely hidden from third parties. We are a seed-stage startup backed by prominent investors like Naval Ravikant, Dragonfly Capital, and Balaji Srinivasan, and we operate as an in-person team in downtown San Francisco.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Cryptography Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. In this role, you will be at the heart of our technical mission, working directly on our ZKP and MPC proving stacks. You will help us bridge the gap between complex cryptographic theory and high-performance, low-latency execution. Your work will be essential in maintaining the integrity of our protocol while ensuring it remains flexible and expressive enough to handle the needs of large-scale traders.
A day in the life
- You will design and implement core cryptographic primitives, such as SPDZ and Bulletproofs, while optimizing them for maximum performance.
- You will conduct internal audits to ensure our protocol maintains a consistent state and operates securely under various conditions.
- You will collaborate with our engineering team to integrate our cryptography stack with StarkNet for scalable settlement and use Rust to build our core protocol layer.
Who you are
You are a technically minded individual with a deep passion for privacy-preserving technologies and a strong foundation in mathematics or security research. You communicate effectively in English and thrive in an environment that values hands-on, in-person collaboration. Your background should include the following:
- Strong familiarity with zero-knowledge proofs and multi-party computation, or the ability to master these concepts rapidly.
- Experience working with specialized cryptographic libraries like Arkworks, Circom, and Dalek.
- Proficiency in working with StarkNet and the Cairo language.
- A proven track record of writing latency-optimized code for practical zero-knowledge proof implementations.
- Experience with our core stack, including Rust for protocol development and TypeScript for interface and CLI design.
Why you'll love it here
Joining Renegade means becoming a core member of a high-impact, seed-stage team that is redefining market structure for the crypto ecosystem. You will work alongside industry leaders in a fast-paced, 6-day-a-week in-person environment in the heart of San Francisco. We provide a unique opportunity to tackle some of the most challenging problems in decentralized finance while working with cutting-edge tools like libp2p and advanced MPC protocols.
