We are Allbirds, a global footwear and apparel brand founded in New Zealand with headquarters in San Francisco. Since 2016, we have been on a mission to prove that comfort, design, and sustainability can coexist. As a certified B Corp, we focus on creating products using premium natural materials, and we are looking for a dedicated Costing Engineer to join our Asia Production team in Ninh Binh, Vietnam. You will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing and play a vital role in managing our global footwear costing strategy while driving meaningful, sustainable cost savings.
What you'll be doing
- You will collaborate with our US-based finance and costing teams to facilitate decision-making during the product creation process, ensuring we meet our profitability goals through the effective use of pre-costing tools.
- You will manage the initial Bill of Labor and Bill of Materials by working closely with our Asia product development, planning, and manufacturing teams to review documentation and optimize product costing.
- You will drive continuous improvement by identifying efficiency opportunities, benchmarking development overhead, and building strong, transparent partnerships with our suppliers to capture value through innovation.
What you'll bring
- You possess 2 to 5 years of experience within a premium footwear brand and have a solid technical understanding of product construction and manufacturing methods.
- You have a highly analytical mindset, strong price negotiation skills, and a high level of proficiency in Excel.
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and have the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- You are passionate about sustainability and thrive in dynamic, unstructured environments where you can take initiative to solve problems.
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or business is preferred, and the ability to speak Mandarin is considered a bonus.
