The role
We are hiring a Contract FinOps Engineer on a contractor basis. This senior-level position is fully remote and aligned with UK time zones. You will join our engineering department to lead cloud-cost optimisation work across a large Azure estate.
Core responsibilities
- Analyse spending across Cosmos DB, App Services, Functions and data platforms, then partner with engineering teams to implement optimisation measures that protect performance and reliability.
- Build and maintain cost-monitoring dashboards, automated budget alerts and clear allocation models that give teams visibility into their cloud spend.
- Run regular optimisation reviews, deliver actionable recommendations and coach teams on FinOps practices and Azure cost-management tooling.
Skills and experience
You bring deep knowledge of Azure services and pricing, including Cosmos DB throughput models, VNET and network security groups, Front Door, Traffic Manager, App Service Plans, Functions, Databricks and Data Factory. Hands-on experience with Azure Cost Management, Azure Advisor and related FinOps tooling is essential, as is proficiency in PowerShell, C# and .NET for building automation and working alongside development teams. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code principles, CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Octopus will help you succeed. You can translate technical findings into clear reports for both technical and non-technical stakeholders and have applied optimisation techniques such as reserved instances, right-sizing, scaling policies and lifecycle management. A solid grasp of FinOps frameworks, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate in English complete your profile.
