The role

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. This is a remote position that requires a high level of expertise in both data science and engineering. You will work closely with cross-functional innovation teams to develop novel products, ensuring that our data models are not only insightful but also seamlessly integrated into production software environments.

Core responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data science initiatives, managing the entire lifecycle from initial problem formulation and data exploration to the final deployment of models.
• Collaborate directly with stakeholders to translate complex business challenges into actionable, data-driven solutions through advanced statistical modeling.
• Partner with software and data engineering teams to ensure high data quality, integrity, and the successful integration of models into existing systems.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong technical background and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• Extensive experience in a professional engineering environment, specifically with shipping machine learning models into production.
• Expert proficiency in Python and its core data ecosystem, including pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Deep knowledge of machine learning algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning, time series analysis, and natural language processing.
• Strong command of SQL and relational databases, paired with a solid understanding of data engineering and feature engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
