Role at a glance
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a contract basis. This is a fully remote position available to candidates located in the UK. You will be embedded within a client's data platform team, focusing on high-level infrastructure and engineering excellence.
Your impact
- Design and build core infrastructure software, including robust data pipelines, APIs, and data models.
- Instrument systems to ensure peak performance and maintainability while managing secure authentication for internal and external stakeholders.
- Select and implement the right technologies for batch processing, data streaming, and scaling, while mentoring fellow engineers to elevate the team's technical standards.
What you'll need
To succeed in this role, you should be a strong communicator who balances innovation with pragmatic business solutions. You will need the following technical and professional expertise:
- Advanced proficiency in writing maintainable, high-performance Python code.
- Extensive experience with dbt-core, including testing and macros.
- Hands-on experience building modern data pipelines using Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, and Apache Airflow.
- Deep expertise in SQL, specifically window functions and common table expressions.
- Proven work with Snowflake and other OLAP databases.
- A strong background in end-to-end monitoring and alerting systems.
- A professional, customer-focused mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects and engineering leadership.
