What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join us on a contract basis. This is a remote position available to anyone based in the UK. You will be a key player in our client's data platform team, where you will focus on building robust infrastructure and empowering stakeholders through high-quality data solutions.
What will you do?
- Design and build core infrastructure software, including data pipelines, APIs, and data models, while instrumenting systems to ensure peak performance.
- Select and implement the right technologies to handle data access, batch processing, and real-time streaming, all while keeping the specific needs of the client's business in mind.
- Act as a senior collaborator by coaching and mentoring fellow engineers to help them grow their technical skills and expertise.

Your technical toolkit should include:
- Expertise in writing maintainable, high-performance Python code.
- Proficiency with dbt-core, including macros and testing.
- Hands-on experience with modern data pipelines using Kafka, Spark, AWS Kinesis, AWS Lambda, and Apache Airflow.
- Deep knowledge of complex SQL, specifically window functions and Common Table Expressions.
- Experience working with Snowflake and other OLAP databases.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain complex concepts simply.
