You will join Pano, a venture-backed climate tech startup that leads in wildfire early detection by combining mountaintop cameras, satellites, IoT, AI, and SaaS software to deliver real-time intelligence to utilities, fire authorities, and government agencies across the USA and Australia. Our team blends frontline firefighting experience with expertise from companies such as Apple, Cisco, Nest, DoorDash, and Meta, and we have raised more than $40 million since our founding in 2020. As a Computer Vision Engineer on the detection team, you will help build and refine the geometric and imaging systems that turn raw camera feeds into actionable fire data.
What you'll be doing
- Develop geometric models that stitch multiple camera images into panoramic views and create accurate forward and backward mappings between the two domains.
- Optimize camera capture pipelines so the images delivered to our fire-detection models are as clear and informative as possible.
- Translate AI predictions into real-world coordinates by combining geometric transforms with additional data sources, then implement these solutions so they run reliably in production and improve key business metrics.
What you'll bring
- At least two years of software engineering experience plus a master’s degree in computer science, or four years of experience plus a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
- At least two years of hands-on industry work in computer vision, including imaging and geometry.
- At least two years of professional Python programming experience.
- Strong English communication skills.
What you'll get
You will work remotely from anywhere, with a preference for candidates located in the Pacific or Mountain time zones. We offer a fully remote work arrangement that supports collaboration across our global team.
