Imagine a workday where you are the go-to expert for keeping technology running smoothly for people in your community. We are a team dedicated to providing high-quality hardware support, and we are looking for a skilled technician to join us as a contractor. We specialize in bridging the gap between complex hardware issues and the customers who rely on their devices every single day, ensuring that every laptop and desktop is back in working order as quickly as possible.
The opportunity
As a Computer Field Technician, you will play a vital role in our service network. This is a 1099 contractor position, which offers you the flexibility to manage your own schedule while providing essential repairs and installations. You will be the face of our service, visiting both residential and commercial sites to resolve hardware issues. We support major manufacturers, and you will receive free, specialized training through Dell and Lenovo certifications to ensure you are fully prepared to handle the equipment you encounter.
A day in the life
- You will start your morning by logging into your tech portal by 9 am to review your assigned tickets, code your calls, and map out the most efficient route for your day.
- After picking up the necessary parts from a local shipping store, you will travel to various customer locations to perform professional hardware installations and repairs.
- Once your service calls are complete, you will finalize your work by dropping off the replaced parts using the provided pre-paid shipping labels, ensuring a seamless experience for both the manufacturer and the customer.
Who you are
You are a tech-savvy individual who feels right at home working with computer hardware. Because you will be traveling between multiple work sites, you must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. You are comfortable communicating in English and have the discipline to manage your own workflow. To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Proven experience working with laptop and desktop hardware.
- Access to a personal computer and a reliable internet connection to manage your daily portal updates.
- The ability to commit to being available for at least three weekdays between Monday and Friday.
- A strong commitment to customer service and professional conduct while on-site.
Why you'll love it here
We value your time and your expertise. This role offers a unique way to build your career in the field of technology hardware. You will enjoy a consistent pay schedule, with payments issued every Friday following your first week of work. Because this is a per-call position, your earnings are based on the number of calls you complete, with rates starting at $35 and increasing based on the distance you travel. You will also benefit from free online certifications that enhance your professional credentials, making you a more versatile technician in the ever-evolving world of technology.
