The role
We are seeking a Senior Compensation Manager to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This individual contributor role reports directly to the SVP of Total Rewards and HR Technology. You will serve as a key strategic partner, managing compensation programs for approximately 500 employees across North America, with additional reach into the UK and Asia. Core responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and HR, providing expert guidance on complex pay decisions across our diverse business functions, including sales, newsroom, and corporate teams.
- Lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and administration of our compensation programs, including base salary structures, incentive plans, and annual merit or bonus cycles.
- Manage our relationships with external compensation vendors and consultants while leveraging HR systems to drive data accuracy, process automation, and scalability.
Skills and experience
- Five to seven years of dedicated experience in compensation, ideally supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Business, HR, or Finance.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex modeling and data analysis, alongside strong experience with HRIS platforms.
- Proven ability to manage external vendors and navigate compensation compliance, specifically regarding U.S. multi-state regulations and pay transparency.
- Strong influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- A professional certification such as a CCP is preferred, and experience working within a unionized environment is considered a plus.
Compensation and benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 USD. We are committed to providing a flexible work environment and this role is fully remote for candidates residing in California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
