We are looking for a Senior Cognos SDK Developer to join our team on a contractor basis for an initial three-month engagement, with the possibility of an extension. Based in Gainesville, Florida, this hybrid role requires you to work on-site for one week each month, while the remaining three weeks can be completed remotely. You will collaborate directly with our university staff to modernize our reporting infrastructure, specifically focusing on batch automation and the migration of our Cognos environment from a Windows-based implementation to a Linux-based Cognos 11 platform.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain batch automation processes and report authoring solutions using the IBM Cognos 11 SDK.
- Provide expert design guidance and mentorship to our internal team regarding Framework Manager best practices, data mart construction, and custom reporting requirements for college accreditation.
- Lead the technical conversion of existing Cognos 10 SDK code to ensure full compatibility and high performance within the Cognos Analytics v11 environment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess extensive, hands-on experience with the IBM Cognos toolset and a deep understanding of SDK-driven automation. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Proven expertise in utilizing the Cognos SDK for report automation, distribution, and change management deployment.
- Total proficiency in Report Studio, Framework Manager, Transformer, and the Administration Module, including job management and configuration.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate Cognos capabilities with custom or in-house applications.
- Experience working with Cognos platforms on Linux OS is highly preferred, as is prior experience within a university or higher education setting.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft EPM on Oracle or legacy Cognos Series 7 environments is considered a strong asset.
What we offer
We provide a flexible hybrid work environment that balances the need for on-site collaboration with the autonomy of remote work. You will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our data infrastructure while working alongside a dedicated team committed to academic excellence.
