Cloud Platform Senior Software Engineer at Hiya

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Core Technology team in a full-time, hybrid capacity based in Budapest. This is an individual contributor position focused on developing and maintaining our production cloud platform. You will play a vital role in enabling our development teams to build resilient, scalable, and observable services. You will work closely with product engineers in Budapest while collaborating with our global team members in Seattle and Madrid to advance our internal developer platform.

What will you do?

• Architect and develop cloud services, controller components, API services, and automated policies to shape our platform.
• Act as a developer advocate by translating the needs of product engineering teams into platform requirements and guiding them toward effective, shared solutions.
• Ensure the reliability of our global network, carrier connectivity, and asynchronous messaging data plane, including participating in a global on-call rotation.

• Practical software development experience using Python, Go, Scala, or Rust, along with proficiency in git for configuration management.
• Hands-on experience with production cloud engineering in environments like AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• A strong grasp of Kubernetes abstractions and Linux system fundamentals.
• Proven expertise in building highly available, multi-region infrastructure.
• The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in both English and Hungarian.
