As a proud member of the Media.Monks and S4 Capital family, we pride ourselves on our human-centered approach to consulting. We believe that deep enterprise experience, paired with long-term strategic thinking, allows us to help our clients redefine their industries. We are looking for a talented engineer to join our global team and help us build the robust infrastructure that powers these ambitious goals.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join us on a contractor basis. In this role, you will be the architect behind our messaging infrastructure, specifically focusing on the design and maintenance of Kafka clusters. You will act as a bridge between our infrastructure and application teams, ensuring that our pub/sub requirements are met with scalable, high-performance solutions. This position is remote and open to candidates anywhere, allowing you to contribute your expertise to our global mission from wherever you work best.
A day in the life
- You will design, deploy, and manage Kafka clusters to ensure they meet the specific pub/sub demands of our various applications.
- You will work directly with application teams to understand their unique requirements and translate those needs into reliable, maintainable services.
- You will contribute to the ongoing operation of Kubernetes clusters and cloud environments, using observability tools to monitor performance and drive system reliability.
Who you are
You are a seasoned professional with at least 4 years of experience in cloud platform engineering. You have a proven track record of managing Kafka clusters and understand the nuances of pub/sub messaging systems. You are comfortable working in a remote environment and possess strong English communication skills at a B2 level or higher.
Your technical toolkit includes:
- Proficiency in Python or C++, with secondary experience in Java or Node.js.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, primarily AWS, though we also value expertise in GCP or Azure.
- A solid grasp of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
- A commitment to an incremental, MVP-based approach to development and a data-driven mindset when troubleshooting complex operational challenges.
Why you'll love it here
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where every voice is heard and valued. We actively work to remove bias from our hiring process, and we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every single requirement listed. We celebrate the unique perspectives you bring to our team. As part of our commitment to flexibility, this role offers the benefit of remote work, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively.
