At Scratch Financial, we are on a mission to simplify complex financial decisions and expand access to fair, transparent medical financing. As a Series C fintech startup based in Los Angeles, we have become the fastest-growing provider in the veterinary care space, supporting a network of over 15,000 practices across the U.S. and Canada. Our award-winning technology powers three core products: Scratch Pay for point-of-sale lending, Scratch Checkout for integrated payment processing, and Scratch Comms for streamlined appointment booking and patient communication.
The role
We are seeking a mid-level Cloud Operations Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a remote position specifically for candidates based in the EMEA region. You will report to our CloudOps Team Lead and play a vital role in maintaining and expanding our Google Cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with our developers to drive product innovation and automate our continuous integration and delivery pipelines. Please note that our core team hours are 1 PM to 7 PM UTC, and you will be expected to be available for at least four of those hours for collaboration and meetings.
Core responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and scale our Kubernetes-based application deployment platform to support our ongoing growth.
- Provide sustainable infrastructure solutions and prompt technical support to ensure our engineering teams can work safely and efficiently within compliance regulations.
- Collaborate with our security team to maintain infrastructure compliance, manage disaster recovery plans, and document essential workflows.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in software engineering and a collaborative mindset. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Extensive production experience with cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud, and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
- Proficiency in infrastructure automation using Terraform and Helm.
- Experience with CI/CD stacks, preferably GitLab, and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or JavaScript.
- A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and familiarity with database technologies like PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, global team.
- Familiarity with financial regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements is highly valued.
Compensation and benefits
We are proud to offer a flexible work environment that prioritizes your ability to contribute from anywhere. Our team values remote work and provides the support necessary to excel in a distributed setting.
