The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, or CDAO, is at the forefront of integrating data, analytics, and artificial intelligence to drive decision-making across the Department of Defense. By bringing together teams like the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center and Defense Digital Services, we have created a unified organization dedicated to solving complex, global challenges. We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Directorate for Digital Services. In this role, you will help us transform how the government builds and deploys technology, directly contributing to national security and improving the lives of those who serve. If you are a self-motivated problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, we invite you to help us make a meaningful impact.
What you'll be doing
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud architectures while ensuring the security and performance of our mission-critical systems.
- Develop and manage automated deployment pipelines using CI/CD best practices to streamline software delivery.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code principles using Terraform to create repeatable, secure, and efficient cloud environments.
What you'll bring
To succeed in this role, you should be a versatile engineer who can jump into projects with minimal context. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure roles such as SRE, systems architecture, or DevSecOps.
- Proven technical proficiency with at least one major cloud provider, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong hands-on experience with Hashicorp Terraform and a deep understanding of Infrastructure as Code.
- Fluency in at least one programming language, such as Python, JavaScript, or Golang.
- Familiarity with Git for version control and experience managing CI/CD pipelines.
- A commitment to DevSecOps standards and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues effectively.
- U.S. Citizenship is required, and you must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
What you'll get
We offer a supportive environment with a variety of benefits designed to foster a healthy work-life balance and long-term security. You will have access to:
- Remote work flexibility and a Maxiflex work schedule.
- Comprehensive medical insurance options.
- Life insurance coverage.
- Paid time off, including federal holidays.
- Flexible hours to help you manage your professional and personal commitments.
