Classroom Security Instructional Assistant at Menta

We are looking for a dedicated Classroom Security Instructional Assistant to join our team at The Menta Education Group. Our organization operates Southwest Academy, a specialized school that provides a rigorous education and vital social emotional support for high-risk children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 22. We maintain a unique no refusal, no suspension, and no expulsion policy to ensure that every student receives the help they need to master the skills required for a productive life. By joining us, you will work on-site to help maintain an optimal learning environment that is safe, structured, and responsive to the needs of students from nine surrounding school districts.

Key outcomes

• Provide direct academic support to students within the classroom setting.
• Actively manage classroom behaviors and engage with students to redirect or de-escalate potential conflicts.
• Maintain a high level of alertness to identify and report conditions that could disrupt the educational process or compromise safety.
• Implement and track behavioral program policies and data to support student progress.
• Provide general supervision throughout the school and respond effectively to emergency situations.
• Assist in the prevention and management of non-compliant behavior while providing interventions to help students manage their own actions.
• Exercise independent judgment and tact when thinking quickly under pressure.

Requirements

• You must be at least 23 years of age.
• You should possess the ability to work effectively with high-risk students who have special needs.
• You must be able to remain flexible when faced with changes to daily routines.
• You need the ability to operate tactfully and calmly even when under significant stress.
• Proficiency in English is required for all communication and reporting duties.
• A strong preference is given to candidates with a good driving record who are willing and able to operate a student van.

Preferred qualifications

• An educational background or professional experience in kinesiology, sports coaching, physical education, or personal training.
• Experience working in behavioral science, or as a registered behavior technician or mental health technician.
• A background in security or the juvenile justice system.
• Military veterans are highly encouraged to apply.

Compensation

We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being. This is a 10-month school position that features 12-month semi-monthly pay.
