We are looking for a dedicated Classroom Security Instructional Assistant to join our team at The Menta Education Group. Our organization operates Southwest Academy, a specialized school that provides a rigorous education and vital social emotional support for high-risk children and adolescents between the ages of 5 and 22. We maintain a unique no refusal, no suspension, and no expulsion policy to ensure that every student receives the help they need to master the skills required for a productive life. By joining us, you will work on-site to help maintain an optimal learning environment that is safe, structured, and responsive to the needs of students from nine surrounding school districts.
Key outcomes
- Provide direct academic support to students within the classroom setting.
- Actively manage classroom behaviors and engage with students to redirect or de-escalate potential conflicts.
- Maintain a high level of alertness to identify and report conditions that could disrupt the educational process or compromise safety.
- Implement and track behavioral program policies and data to support student progress.
- Provide general supervision throughout the school and respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Assist in the prevention and management of non-compliant behavior while providing interventions to help students manage their own actions.
- Exercise independent judgment and tact when thinking quickly under pressure.
Requirements
- You must be at least 23 years of age.
- You should possess the ability to work effectively with high-risk students who have special needs.
- You must be able to remain flexible when faced with changes to daily routines.
- You need the ability to operate tactfully and calmly even when under significant stress.
- Proficiency in English is required for all communication and reporting duties.
- A strong preference is given to candidates with a good driving record who are willing and able to operate a student van.
Preferred qualifications
- An educational background or professional experience in kinesiology, sports coaching, physical education, or personal training.
- Experience working in behavioral science, or as a registered behavior technician or mental health technician.
- A background in security or the juvenile justice system.
- Military veterans are highly encouraged to apply.
Compensation
We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being. This includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, with medical coverage available to full-time employees starting on their date of hire with no waiting period. Additionally, we provide supplemental insurance programs, generous paid time off for salaried positions, and 403(b) investment options. This is a 10-month school position that features 12-month semi-monthly pay.
