Chief Technology Officer at Supercharge

We are Supercharge, a Budapest-based engineering company of 200+ people building impactful digital products used by millions every day. From large-scale public transport apps and fintech platforms to AR solutions and storage systems that support a greener future, our 100+ engineers work across Java, JavaScript, Android, and iOS to deliver meaningful technology without legacy constraints.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve Supercharge’s technical vision in line with business goals, client needs, and emerging trends.
• Guide the architecture, security, and performance of our scalable tech stack across web, mobile, QA, and Data & AI teams.
• Lead strategic R&D initiatives and integrate AI tooling to drive innovation and maintain competitive advantage.
• Champion engineering best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, including agile delivery, testing, code quality, and architectural governance.
• Mentor and grow a 100+ person engineering organization while fostering an inclusive, high-performing culture.
• Drive talent acquisition, retention, and professional development to attract and keep top technical talent.
• Encourage knowledge sharing through tech talks, workshops, documentation, open-source contributions, and technical publishing.
• Represent the company at conferences, webinars, and industry events to strengthen our engineering brand.
• Partner with sales and delivery teams on pre-sales activities, proposals, and client pitches.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to key clients, ensuring delivery excellence and long-term satisfaction.
• Identify and develop new service and product opportunities aligned with market demand.

Must-haves

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles such as Head of Engineering, VP of Engineering, or CTO within an agency or consulting environment.
• Hands-on expertise with modern backend technologies (.NET, Java, NodeJS), frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue), mobile development, and Data & AI platforms such as Databricks or VertexAI.
• Proven success building, scaling, and leading large, high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong command of architectural patterns, design principles, and best practices for creating scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated experience driving cultural change and building collaborative, innovative, results-oriented environments.
• Ability to balance technical excellence with commercial priorities.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their practical application.
• English fluency.
