We’re Bezos Academy, a growing network of Montessori-inspired preschools dedicated to expanding access to high-quality early education in under-resourced communities across the country. Our work already reaches hundreds of teachers and thousands of children and families, and we’re building the technology foundation that will scale that impact for generations.
What is this role?
This is a full-time, on-site Chief Technology Officer position based in Seattle, Washington. The role sits at the executive level and reports directly to the President. You will join our senior leadership team and guide technology strategy for a mission-driven organization that operates multiple preschool sites nationwide.
What will you do?
- Lead an enterprise-wide technology organization that spans corporate IT, software engineering, systems architecture, product development, data science, research, data engineering, and instructional design.
- Set hardware, software, process, and technology standards that enable every Bezos Academy preschool and national support team to deliver consistent, high-quality experiences for children, families, and staff.
- Partner with the President and fellow executives to align technology investments with organizational growth, ensuring solutions scale reliably while meeting the needs of a geographically distributed workforce.
What makes you a great fit?
You bring at least fifteen years of relevant experience, including ten or more years managing interdisciplinary technical teams across the full spectrum of technology functions. You have a demonstrated record of building technical products from the ground up, selecting technology stacks, and taking full accountability for national scalability, reliability, and performance. You have hired, coached, and developed diverse, high-performing teams in high-growth or start-up environments and are comfortable leading through multiple layers across distributed locations.
You hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or possess equivalent professional experience. You communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, solve ambiguous problems with strong analytical skills, and are willing to travel up to twenty percent of the time. English fluency is required. Experience overseeing both software and hardware across twenty or more physical sites, familiarity with cybersecurity and data-security best practices, and a background in education or education technology are highly valued.
What's in it for you?
