At Honeybee Robotics, we have spent four decades pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space exploration. Based in Longmont, Colorado, our team serves as a cornerstone for NASA, defense, and commercial space programs. From the intricate details of the Roman Space Telescope to the historic milestones of the Artemis I Mission, our motion control and actuation systems are helping humanity reach further into the cosmos. We are looking for a visionary leader who shares our passion for precision and wants to help us shape the future of aerospace technology.
The opportunity
We are searching for a Chief Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our Motion Control team. In this executive-level role, you will act as the primary technical authority for our mechanical and systems engineering efforts. You will be responsible for guiding the development of revolutionary hardware, ensuring our designs meet the rigorous demands of flight missions, and fostering a culture of technical excellence across our entire organization.
A day in the life
- You will serve as the senior technical lead, providing mentorship to our engineering staff while coordinating complex design, analysis, and systems engineering processes from initial concept through to final operation.
- You will chair critical design reviews and establish the standards for our engineering deliverables, ensuring that every project we touch meets our high internal benchmarks for quality and reliability.
- You will lead failure analysis efforts and risk assessments, using tools like fault tree analysis and 8D reports to solve systemic challenges and ensure the success of our flight and ground architectures.
Who you are
You are a seasoned professional with at least 15 years of experience in the aerospace industry, specifically within new product development and sustaining support. You have a deep background in mechanical space systems and have successfully guided multiple flight systems through their full lifecycles. You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and demonstrate subject matter expertise in areas such as mechanism design, electromechanical systems, and failure analysis. Because our work supports sensitive national programs, you must be a U.S. citizen, a national, a permanent resident, or an individual lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
