We are Unlikely AI, a deep tech startup based in London with a mission to build highly intelligent, safe, and accurate automated systems that help humanity thrive. Founded by William Tunstall-Pedoe, who played a pivotal role in the development of Alexa, we recently secured $20 million in funding to scale our technology into products that could impact billions of lives.
Responsibilities
- Lead our engineering organization by defining and executing a technical strategy that turns our research into world-class products.
- Build, inspire, and retain a high-performing team of engineers capable of solving complex technical challenges.
- Report directly to the CEO while serving as a key member of the management team to drive company-wide success.
- Manage the delivery of software projects while navigating technical risks and ambitious milestones.
- Foster a culture of innovation that aligns with our core principles and long-term vision.
Must-haves
- Extensive experience building and leading engineering teams within fast-growing, deeply technical startup environments.
- A proven track record of providing thought leadership in ambitious software ventures.
- Deep expertise in recruiting, motivating, and managing top-tier engineering talent.
- Strong knowledge of modern machine learning techniques and the current state of Artificial Intelligence.
- A think big mindset with the ability to handle ambiguity and significant technical risk.
- Fluency in English and the ability to work in a hybrid capacity within the United Kingdom.
Nice-to-haves
- A strong academic background from a top-tier university.
- Hands-on familiarity with our primary technology stack, including Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript, React, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Redis, and AWS.
