At Last Energy, we are working to change the way the world thinks about power. We specialize in developing small modular nuclear power plants that provide clean, reliable energy to industrial customers. Our team is growing, and we are looking for a talented individual to help us push the boundaries of energy technology.
What is this role?
We are looking for a Senior Chemistry and Materials Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This is a senior-level position for someone who has spent at least 8 years honing their expertise in industrial material selection and water chemistry management. You will play a vital role in our engineering department by ensuring our systems are built with the right materials and maintained with the highest standards of chemical integrity.
What will you do?
- You will design and oversee comprehensive water chemistry programs to protect our systems, such as cooling units and heat exchangers, ensuring they perform reliably over the long term.
- You will take the lead on material selection, evaluating various alloys and materials to determine which are best suited for our specific engineering challenges and operating environments.
- You will conduct detailed compatibility assessments, carefully analyzing how materials interact with water chemistry to prevent issues like corrosion, erosion, and unwanted chemical reactions.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong technical foundation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is considered a plus.
- At least 8 years of professional experience managing water chemistry and selecting materials within an industrial setting.
- A solid grasp of the industry standards and regulations that govern material applications.
- Fluency in English and a natural ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- The flexibility to adapt as our engineering technologies continue to evolve.
What's in it for you?
Joining our team means you will be at the forefront of the energy transition. You will have the chance to work on complex, high-impact projects alongside a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about building a sustainable future. We value the expertise you bring and look forward to seeing how your contributions will help us achieve our ambitious project objectives.
