About the role : 

We’re looking for a car expert with superb industry knowledge and contacts to produce videos, copy and content across various heycar channels

In addition to heycar, you’ll also get to showcase your skills on our two other platforms: HonestJohn.co.uk and BuyaCar.co.uk

What you’ll do:

• Be socially savvy: As we continue to grow our social media presence, you’ll be a cornerstone of its strategy, helping to develop and create on-brand content for the heycar audience to enjoy
• Be at ease in front of the camera: Whether it’s a quick 30 second reel or a longer form piece of video, you will be just as comfortable talking to camera as you are writing content
• Represent the brand: You will be required to attend events both across the UK and Europe on a regular basis, not only using that time to form opinions on the latest car, but forging strong relationships within the motor industry
• Know your cars: You’ll be writing in-depth consumer focussed reviews of all the latest cars and vans on sale. Ensuring we are on the latest car launches and driving key models as soon as possible is essential
• Be on-point with content: A central figure in content planning, management and production for heycar, Honest John and BuyaCar. Alongside other members of the editorial team, you’ll shape our longer term content plans
• Be bristling with ideas: Contribute ideas for new content, new tools, calculators and other features that will help and delight our users and readers. You’ll also have a hand in PR campaigns, the news agenda on Honest John and stories that come from big data work. As well as contributing the initial ideas, you’ll have the experience and know-how to make them happen, too
• Be able to own a project: You’ll be responsible for delivery of key content projects from inception and planning, right through to any CMS work and getting it live. It won’t stop there, once live, you’ll need to make sure the content is further optimised and as useful to our users as possible
• Know your way round a CMS: You’ll be familiar with CMS systems and be eager to get the best out of those we have at heycar to maximise the impact of your editorial
• Understand SEO and what it means for content: As well as creating content you’ll be a key figure in optimisation current content to ensure it ranks highly. Understanding the importance of keywords and internal linking is second nature to you
• Commission and manage freelancers/third parties working on projects and ensure that those projects are run on time and to budget

What you’ll need:

• Content Experience: You will be adept at producing content that gives our users and readers clear easy-to-understand advice when it comes to buying and owning a car. You’ll have at least five years of online writing experience and can turn out copy quickly and accurately. You’ll also be a dab-hand at editing the copy of others too and providing advice to more junior members of the team. You have plenty of experience with content management systems and know how to get the best from them
• You will be familiar with - and have opinions of - all the major car models on sale today
• You will have good working relationships with every major UK manufacturer press office
• The drive and determination: You’ll be eager to make progress quickly and solve problems. You’re proactive when it comes to working on solutions when your progress is hindered
• A love for explaining often complex issues in a straigh tforward and easy to understand way. You’ll be flexible too and able adapt your writing style for each of our websites
• Hands-on, proactive, positive outlook. You have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with good time management skills
