The role

We are seeking a Senior CAD Designer to join our engineering team on a contractor basis. This is an on-site role based in the United States. You will play a critical part in our hardware development process by managing complex assemblies and ensuring our engineering documentation meets the highest standards of precision and quality.

Core responsibilities

• Develop and maintain intricate, error-free Solidworks assemblies while building out a robust common hardware library.
• Collaborate closely with our engineering teams to design mechanical components and resolve issues within CAD models and drawings.
• Manage component metadata and library structures within Solidworks PDM to ensure organizational efficiency.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in mechanical design and a commitment to technical excellence. We require the following qualifications:

• At least 4 years of professional experience using Solidworks and Solidworks PDM.
• A Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP) designation or a clearly demonstrated advanced mastery of the software.
• Proficiency in applying GD&T concepts according to ASME Y14.5-2009 standards.
• A deep understanding of engineering design principles and the ability to create accurate technical drawings.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across various engineering disciplines.
• Because our work involves national security, you must meet ITAR requirements as a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

We also value candidates who bring 6 or more years of experience, hold a degree in a relevant engineering or drafting field, or have previous experience as a CAD Librarian or with electrical harness routing.

Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this position is 88,000 to 125,000 USD. Please note that for the state of California, the starting pay range is 42 to 60.50 USD per hour. Final compensation is determined by a variety of factors, including your specific skill set, level of experience, and office location.
