We operate as a team of doers, learners, and collaborators, and we are currently seeking a Senior Build Engineer and Conda Packaging Specialist to join our fully remote, global team.
Key outcomes
- Contribute to the conda-forge and conda-store ecosystems, helping to maintain and improve these vital open-source tools.
- Utilize modern build, packaging, CI, and DevOps technologies to enhance performance and develop new features for projects serving millions of users.
- Engage with clients from both industry and academia to provide high-quality consulting and software development services.
- Collaborate with, mentor, and learn from a diverse group of team members and community contributors.
- Drive technical discussions regarding engineering practices and community processes while providing constructive feedback during code reviews.
- Maintain and expand documentation to ensure the sustainability and accessibility of the open-source projects we support.
Requirements
- Strong familiarity with compilers such as GCC, Clang, and MSVC, alongside build tools like Make, CMake, and Meson.
- Demonstrated fluency in Git and GitHub, with a background in contributing to open-source projects.
- Experience with open-source development workflows, including issue triaging and the management of pull requests.
- Proven ability to work effectively within an asynchronous, distributed team environment.
- Proficiency with Continuous Integration and Deployment tools, specifically GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Prior experience with packaging for conda or other package management systems.
- Expertise in C, C++, and Python, with the ability to navigate and understand large, complex codebases.
- Experience with shell scripting and containerization technologies such as Docker or Ansible.
