About the Role

We are seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to join us in a full-time, remote-friendly capacity. In this role, you will focus on the design engineering of standalone energy storage systems and those integrated with PV projects. You will report to the Manager of ESS Engineering and work closely with our cross-functional teams to ensure our projects meet their performance and financial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the technical design of energy storage systems, including electrical modeling and system sizing, to ensure alignment with our performance goals.
• Drive design optimization across departments to achieve the lowest possible levelized cost of energy.
• Maintain and update our technical specifications, design criteria, and standards while coordinating with vendors and integrators to ensure successful project execution.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 4 years of experience in the technical aspects of utility-scale PV and battery energy storage power plants. You must have a strong background across the development, design, contracting, and construction phases of these projects. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent degree is required. We value candidates who possess a deep technical understanding of power conversion, transformers, and lithium-ion battery technology, as well as those who are comfortable navigating regulatory compliance and permitting standards.

Location

This position is remote. While we operate with a flexible culture, we are looking for candidates located within 60 miles of our hub locations, which include the SF Bay Area, San Diego, the NYC Metro Area, Denver, Austin, Calgary, and Toronto, to help foster in-person connections during our quarterly Team Week gatherings.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary for this position is USD $90,000 to $120,000 or CAD $129,000 to $172,000, plus a 20% annual target bonus. We offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and financial future, including:
