At FERNRIDE, we are on a mission to transform critical industries by replacing repetitive and risky human tasks with advanced robotics. Founded in 2019 following a decade of research at the Technical University of Munich, we have grown into a team of 50 professionals from over 10 countries. We are currently building the first fully certified autonomous trucking system in Europe. We pride ourselves on being an equal opportunity employer that fosters a safe, inclusive space where you can feel empowered to do your best work. Our culture is built on values like ambition, safety, and a commitment to winning as one team.
What you'll be doing
- You will design and evolve the behavior planning architecture for our unmanned vehicles, ensuring they perform reliably across diverse environments ranging from tarmac roads to rugged off-road terrain.
- You will bridge the gap between research and production by integrating classical motion planning with modern AI-driven methods, including foundation models and end-to-end learning approaches.
- You will define clear interfaces between perception, planning, and control systems to ensure that our vehicle behavior remains predictable, safe, and scalable.
What you'll bring
We are looking for a senior professional who thrives at the intersection of robotics and AI. You should possess a strong background in motion or behavior planning for autonomous systems and have experience deploying these technologies in real-world environments. Because our systems are performance-critical, you must have strong C++ skills and a deep understanding of real-time system constraints. You are expected to be a collaborative communicator who can work effectively across team boundaries, particularly with perception and vehicle platform engineers. While we value experience with Vision-Language Models, generative world models, and transformer-based architectures, we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet every preference, provided you have a strong technical foundation and a desire to master new challenges.
What you'll get
We are committed to supporting your professional growth and personal well-being through a comprehensive benefits package designed for flexibility and work-life balance:
- Flexible working hours and options for remote work.
- 30 days of vacation, plus the opportunity to work remotely for up to six weeks from countries covered by the EHIC.
- A lunch subsidy and daily access to breakfast, snacks, and drinks.
- Your choice of a monthly Spendit card, a Wellpass membership, or a mobility card.
- Access to our corporate benefits platform and a company pension scheme.
- Regular team, department, and company-wide events to keep us connected.
