At Tomorrow.io, we are dedicated to helping businesses, governments, and individuals navigate climate security challenges through our advanced weather intelligence platform. Our engineering team builds high-scale infrastructure that processes millions of events per second, supporting major global clients like Uber, Ford, and Delta. We are also pioneering new frontiers with our proprietary satellite radar technology, and we are looking for a Backend Team Lead to join our team in Israel to help us scale these critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain robust backend systems and APIs capable of handling massive, real-time data volumes.
- Mentor and lead a group of talented engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, and DevOps teams to turn complex requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions.
- Set high standards for code quality, testing, and deployment processes within our big data environment.
- Continuously monitor and improve system performance, security, and resilience using modern distributed computing and streaming technologies.
Must-haves
- At least 6 years of professional backend development experience, with a focus on high-scale or data-intensive applications.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a leadership or management role guiding backend engineering teams.
- Strong proficiency in at least one major backend language such as Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
- Deep understanding of web technologies, including microservices and RESTful APIs.
- Proven experience working with distributed systems, Kafka, and both SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to solving complex engineering hurdles.
- Fluency in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Familiarity with container orchestration tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
