We are a proudly purpose-led ASX-listed fintech on a mission to bring people closer to financial wellness. Our Wisr App, winner of WeMoney’s 2024 Best Mobile Experience award, helps customers manage loans and access free tools such as credit scores, round-ups and money hacks. We build smarter, fairer loan products that support real financial progress across Australia, and we are now one of the country’s fastest-growing fintechs.
About the Role
We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a Full Time basis. In this Mid-Level position you will help maintain and extend both our customer-facing and internal platforms, including the Broker portal, our custom loan-management system and a suite of financial-wellness tools. You will work primarily with modern .NET services that power React single-page applications, while also supporting a small number of legacy .NET Framework applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain .NET Core 8 APIs that deliver data to our React front-ends and support new product features across the business.
- Collaborate daily with Product Managers, fellow engineers and internal stakeholders to translate business needs into clean, maintainable code and sustainable technical solutions.
- Contribute to automated testing, continuous integration and deployment pipelines, while helping manage technical debt in a pragmatic way that keeps projects on track.
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on experience developing production applications with C# and .NET, including both .NET Core 8 and .NET Framework 4.7.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and Entity Framework for data access and modelling.
- Experience writing and maintaining integration and unit tests, and comfort working inside a CI/CD environment.
- Clear understanding of the full software-development life-cycle and a genuine interest in learning the domain of the products you build.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team that values diverse perspectives and constructive feedback.
Desirable but not essential: prior use of Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD platforms, exposure to Microsoft Azure, Agile delivery experience, Infrastructure-as-Code practices, or an interest in expanding into React front-end work.
Location
This role is based in Australia and follows a hybrid work arrangement that balances time in our office with flexibility to work from home.
Compensation and Benefits
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements that suit your lifestyle.
- $500 annual wellbeing allowance to spend on activities that support your health.
- An extra paid day off each financial year called “A Day on Wisr”.
- Access to WHEREFIT for discounted gym memberships and other wellbeing offers.
- Generous paid parental leave to support your transition to parenthood.
- Unlimited access to Udemy for continuous learning and skill development.
- Regular social events and team off-sites.
- Employee Assistance Program through Uprise, providing up to six coaching sessions per year.
