The role

We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join us on a full-time, remote basis from Brazil. In this position you will help evolve our core platform, Swile by Vee, by raising technical standards, strengthening architecture, and delivering reliable services that directly improve how our users interact with their benefits every day.

Core responsibilities

• Design and implement backend solutions using Java or Kotlin that power REST APIs, internal tools, and distributed services while ensuring stability, performance, and security.
• Lead technical projects from planning through delivery, guiding the team on architecture decisions and mentoring engineers to raise overall code quality and practices.
• Monitor production systems, respond to incidents, and continuously improve observability so our applications remain dependable for customers at all times.

Skills and experience

We are looking for engineers who hold a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or an equivalent practical background, along with substantial professional experience building software in Java or Kotlin. You should have hands-on experience designing distributed systems, working with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ, and managing both relational and non-relational databases. Familiarity with tools and concepts in artificial intelligence is also required. Strong communication skills, advanced or fluent English, and Portuguese are essential. Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, or gRPC is a plus, as is an advanced degree in a related field.
