About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be a key contributor to our agile engineering organization, focusing on building robust, high-performance, and scalable applications. You will have the opportunity to work with modern technologies and play a central role in shaping our technical architecture while collaborating across departments to solve complex business challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services from the ground up using Scala, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Act as an internal consultant by engaging with stakeholders and product owners to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Maintain high standards of code quality through continuous integration and delivery practices while troubleshooting complex issues across various team domains.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- At least 3 years of professional experience in software development, specifically with server-side applications.
- Proven experience building microservices using containers and Scala in a production environment.
- Strong familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, as well as Kubernetes, Kafka, and CI/CD pipelines.
- A solid understanding of Domain Driven Design, Event Sourcing, and CQRS.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile, and cross-functional team.
Location
This position is available as a hybrid role, with our primary office located in Rotterdam.
