Backend Software Engineer at Clēnera, LLC

Clēnera is a premier developer and independent power producer based in Boise, Idaho, and a subsidiary of Enlight Renewable Energy. We specialize in the development, financing, construction, and operation of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across the United States, with a massive portfolio that includes over 1.5GW of solar and 3.2GWh of storage currently in operation or construction. As we continue to expand our reach across 23 states, we are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team in a hybrid capacity to help us drive innovation in the renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-quality software solutions that align with our business goals, including creating detailed implementation plans.
• Take the lead on small development projects by managing schedules, coordinating tasks, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Perform rigorous code reviews to maintain high standards and ensure our team follows industry best practices.
• Partner with project managers and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical expertise.
• Monitor software performance to identify bottlenecks and implement optimizations that improve overall efficiency.
• Develop and maintain thorough technical documentation, including user guides and design specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance, support, and training to foster their professional growth.
• Collaborate effectively across different departments to maintain organizational excellence.

Must-haves

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience working with Python and JavaScript.
• Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, such as Java or Django.
• Proven expertise in database design, management, and SQL.
• Experience building and integrating APIs.
• Working knowledge of cloud services, specifically AWS.
• Demonstrated ability to lead small projects and mentor other team members.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of detail and organization.
• A strong preference for candidates located in or willing to work from the Boise market.
