Backend Software Engineer at Recall

What you bring

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer working on-site in the United States, you will be a full-time member of our core team. You will be responsible for high-performance, real-time code that handles massive scale, such as processing over 1TB of raw video per second at peak load and managing millions of EC2 instances. Your primary responsibilities include:

• Developing our core product, ranging from robust APIs to complex, real-time video processing pipelines.
• Operating, scaling, and extending our infrastructure while taking full ownership of your code in production.
• Engaging directly with customers to solve their challenges, as every member of our team participates in support to build deep user empathy.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with at least four years of professional software development experience. You should possess a strong ability to learn new technologies quickly and remain productive in unfamiliar domains. We value candidates who have deep customer empathy and a genuine desire to influence product decisions. While not required, having previously founded a startup, especially in the dev-tools space, is considered a significant bonus. You should be a pragmatic problem solver who thrives in a low-structure, high-trust environment where you can take a high-level goal and independently drive it to completion.
