Backend Software Engineer at Rhombus-systems

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, hybrid basis. In this position, you will be instrumental in maintaining and expanding the functionality of our cloud environment. You will collaborate closely with our UI teams to manage data, design robust database structures, and contribute to our sophisticated analytics pipeline. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to work within a contract-driven micro-services architecture built on the Spring framework.

Core responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable micro-services that effectively handle growing workloads.
• Build innovative, bandwidth-friendly algorithms to collect, report, and react to real-time events generated by edge devices and sensors.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver high-quality APIs that manage the flow of incoming and outgoing data.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of professional enterprise development experience using Java.
• Proven experience working with micro-service infrastructures and HTTP APIs.
• Familiarity with the Spring framework and AWS cloud infrastructure, specifically services like DynamoDB and Kinesis.
• Proficiency with technologies such as Elastic Search, S3, and Jersey/JAX-RS.
• A self-starting mindset with the ability to make decisions independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation and benefits

The base salary for this position ranges from $110,000 to $145,000 USD. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package to support our employees:
