Backend Software Engineer at Lumafield

What you bring

We are seeking a Mid-Level Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. You will be a key contributor to our cloud platform, bridging the gap between REST APIs and complex data processing pipelines. Your daily work will involve the following core responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining cloud backend APIs using Python, Django, and the Django Rest Framework.
• Building highly parallelized processing tasks for massive datasets using Python, Django, and Celery.
• Managing the full deployment lifecycle by containerizing code with Docker and deploying to AWS environments including EKS and S3.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in software engineering and a commitment to high-quality code. We require a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, along with at least two years of professional experience using Python in a production backend environment. You should be comfortable with Linux server administration, network troubleshooting, and managing Docker deployments. We value candidates who demonstrate excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit, as you will work closely with our research, product, and design teams. A deep understanding of git, unit testing, and interface design is essential, as is experience with large dataset processing using numpy.
