Backend Software Engineer III/IV at Highpointaerotech

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer at the III or IV level to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position that offers the flexibility to work from anywhere. You will be instrumental in designing and optimizing the backend systems that power our command and control products, ensuring our defense capabilities remain at the cutting edge of the industry.

Core responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend solutions using Java and Python to enhance our counter-autonomous capabilities.
• Integrate a wide array of hardware components, including radar, electro-optical and infra-red cameras, GPS devices, and lidar sensors.
• Implement advanced parallel processing and network messaging services to optimize data pipelines and ensure seamless communication across distributed systems.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong background in backend engineering and a commitment to building high-performance software. We require the following qualifications:

• At least 6 years of professional experience with a bachelor’s degree, 4 years with a master’s degree, or a PhD in computer science or a related field.
• Deep expertise in Java and Python, with a focus on multithreading and concurrent data processing.
• Proven ability to design modular microservices and scalable system architectures.
• Proficiency with collaboration and project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Gitlab or GitHub.
• Strong communication skills in English.
