Backend Software Engineer - API at Moment

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in New York City. As an early engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our technical direction and building robust, scalable systems. You will work alongside industry experts in a fast-paced environment where engineering excellence is our top priority. This position is perfect for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, such as managing systems that process over 500 million messages per day.

Core responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the core infrastructure that powers our entire product suite.
• Lead the architecture and implementation of distributed services, balancing performance, reliability, and engineering velocity.
• Take ownership of backend development for core features and APIs while mentoring team members to help us scale our engineering culture.

Skills and experience

We are looking for candidates who possess a strong foundation in backend engineering and a drive to make a global impact. While a background in fintech is not required, we value a passion for innovation and a commitment to high standards.

• At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering, including building services from the ground up in large-scale production environments.
• Proficiency with our core tech stack, which includes Go, AWS, Kafka, and Postgres.
• Deep experience architecting and developing distributed systems.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on transparency and empathy.

Compensation and benefits
