The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a high-impact position where you will work within a collaborative environment of backend, frontend, and full-stack engineers. We operate with a you build it, you own it philosophy, meaning you will be responsible for your own infrastructure, testing, and quality assurance as we scale our platform globally.

Core responsibilities

• Design and implement robust backend services for high-performance, distributed systems.
• Take full ownership of technical decisions, focusing on scalability and efficient output.
• Collaborate across product-focused teams to conduct code reviews and continuously refine our development workflows.

Skills and experience

We are looking for a self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and values autonomy. You should have a deep understanding of the entire software development lifecycle, from initial design to final deployment.

• Proven experience working in modern, complex technical environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python is preferred, though we welcome candidates with backgrounds in other object-oriented languages like Java or Golang who are prepared to be assessed in Python.
• A solid grasp of testing frameworks, including BDD and TDD, as you will be responsible for the quality of your own code.
• Technical familiarity with our stack, which includes TypeScript, React, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
