The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis at our headquarters in downtown Chicago. In this role, you will play a vital part in scaling the technology that powers our platform, ensuring that every fan and talent interaction is seamless and engaging across both our website and mobile applications.

Core responsibilities

• Design and maintain robust, performant REST APIs to support our growing user base.
• Collaborate closely with our data and sales teams to enhance the talent experience and ensure our video delivery remains top-tier.
• Focus on scaling our backend infrastructure to support millions of users while maintaining high standards for code quality and testing.

Skills and experience

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft and thrives in an environment that values product sense and initiative. You should have:

• At least 5 years of professional experience working with backend JavaScript, specifically Node.js and Express.
• Strong proficiency in building and scaling web applications for a large audience.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL databases, particularly MongoDB.
• A solid background in JavaScript testing frameworks like Jest, Enzyme, or Appium.
• Previous experience in the social media or video technology sectors.
• A proactive mindset that allows you to navigate ambiguity with ease.
