Key outcomes

• Design, develop, and operate hyperscale integrations that extend our platform to third-party systems and external developers.
• Build and refine clear, scalable RESTful and GraphQL API interfaces that power reliable service-to-service communication.
• Establish efficient contracts and interfaces that enable product managers, designers, and engineers to move from discovery to delivery with confidence.
• Continuously improve existing backend services by identifying issues early and implementing robust, maintainable solutions.
• Coach and mentor fellow engineers through pair programming, thoughtful code reviews, and proactive knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Several years of hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale software solutions with PHP as the primary language.
• Deep expertise in API design principles for RESTful and GraphQL interfaces, including security, scalability, and maintainability best practices.
• Proven track record of building products where developers are the end users, translating their needs into practical tooling and documentation.
• Working knowledge of modern frontend technologies, demonstrated through exposure to React and an end-to-end understanding of web application architecture.
• Strong experience writing unit and integration tests, along with solid practices in error handling, logging, and observability.
• Fluency in English for effective collaboration across distributed teams.
• Eligibility to work remotely from anywhere in Switzerland or on-site at our St. Gallen office.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with testing frameworks and component-level best practices that emphasize reusability, accessibility, and performance.
• Experience contributing to developer platforms or frameworks that support extensibility and third-party integrations.
