The role
We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer to join our growing team on a full-time basis. This is a mid-level position based in the United States, and we operate with a hybrid work model, requiring time in our office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. You will report directly to our Head of Engineering and play a key role in building the systems that track millions of entities across the globe.
Core responsibilities
- Design and maintain scalable, reliable systems that ingest and derive actionable insights from massive datasets.
- Collaborate closely with our product, design, and research teams to deliver impactful new features and drive our overall technical vision.
- Prototype and advocate for new technology solutions that address complex, real-world challenges in international trade and risk response.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have at least 3 years of experience in backend engineering. We value candidates who are proactive, possess a strong sense of urgency, and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required qualifications:
- Deep proficiency with SQL and relational databases.
- Strong technical problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering high-quality software.
- A growth mindset and a passion for solving business problems through code.
Bonus points for:
- Advanced Python programming skills.
- Experience scaling data pipelines and working with knowledge graphs or datasets containing tens of millions of items.
- Familiarity with ReactJS for web-app frontends.
- Experience collaborating with data scientists and analysts to solve data-heavy challenges.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 USD. In addition to your base salary, we offer equity compensation and a flexible hybrid work environment to support your work-life balance.
