We are Flagstone, an online savings platform that helps individuals, businesses, and charities manage and grow their cash. Our Microsoft-based engineering team builds resilient cloud systems that power this mission, and we are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help shape the next phase of our product.

Responsibilities

Collaborate within an Agile team to design, build, and maintain new backend features using C# and .NET Core.
Develop and support cloud-native services on Azure, including Web Apps, Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Service Bus.
Design and implement RESTful APIs that meet both business goals and technical standards.
Apply SOLID principles, Event-Driven Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design to create maintainable, scalable systems.
Write automated tests and follow test-driven development practices to ensure high-quality, resilient code.
Partner with product, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Must-haves

At least three years of commercial experience developing with C# and .NET or .NET Core.
Strong understanding of SOLID principles, Event-Driven Architecture, and Domain-Driven Design.
Hands-on experience designing and building RESTful APIs.
Proven Azure cloud development experience and a cloud-first mindset.
Solid SQL skills for database design and querying.
Experience with testing strategies or Test-Driven Development.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to varied audiences.
Emotional intelligence, proactivity, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Fluency in English.

Nice-to-haves

Familiarity with additional Azure services such as AppInsights or API Management.
