Backend Engineer at Oleria

The role

We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join us full-time on-site in India. In this early-stage role you will help define our core systems, development practices, and architectural direction while shipping production software that protects millions of users.

Core responsibilities

• Design, prioritize, and build the infrastructure and services that power end-to-end product experiences on AWS, with an eye toward future multi-cloud expansion.
• Develop large-scale data pipelines that ingest, transport, clean, store, analyze, and learn from petabyte-scale datasets, enabling real-time security insights and alerting.
• Establish a world-class development lifecycle-from initial concept through DevSecOps delivery-by defining service architecture, APIs, tooling, and operational standards.

Skills and experience

• At least four years of professional backend development experience and a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in computer science (or equivalent practical experience).
• Proficiency in one or more of Golang, Java, .NET, or JavaScript, along with a clear understanding of the trade-offs among these languages.
• Strong command of RESTful API design, high-scale commercial SaaS delivery, and the full software lifecycle from idea through monitoring and incident response.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud platform-AWS preferred-plus modern deployment practices including CI/CD, containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Deep knowledge of networking, data transport, persistence (especially NoSQL), performance, privacy, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, logging, and alerting at enterprise scale.
• Familiarity with secure development practices and industry-standard security, privacy, and data-governance requirements.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment where ambiguity is routine and priorities can shift quickly.
