Backend Engineer at Kovo

The role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a high-intensity role designed for someone who wants to own critical systems from start to finish. You will be responsible for building and scaling the infrastructure that powers our financial products, ensuring they are performant, reliable, and capable of supporting our rapid growth. Please note that our pace of execution is intense, and this position is not optimized for traditional work-life balance.

Core responsibilities

• Take full ownership of backend systems and infrastructure, managing everything from initial design through to deployment and scaling.
• Develop performant and reliable APIs and services that serve as the backbone of our financial tools.
• Design scalable architectures on AWS using Node and TypeScript, while aggressively leveraging AI-assisted development tools to maximize your output and impact.

Skills and experience

• At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend development.
• Proven track record of building and scaling production systems using Node and AWS.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and a deep understanding of architectural trade-offs.
• A systems-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments where you must make technical decisions with incomplete information.
• A commitment to high-quality code and system reliability, even while utilizing modern AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery.
